To My Dear Students and their Families,
Thank you all so much for the wonderful Holiday gift that I received on Friday! It was so kind of you to think of me. I will enjoy a fabulous shopping spree and using all the lovely nail care and lotion!

I will be heading 'across the pond' on Thursday to spend the holidays with my family. Best wishes to all my students and their families. I hope you all enjoy a relaxing, fun-filled break! See you in the New Year!

Thank you for all the toy donations that have come in last week! They were collected and delivered so that they could be included in the Santa Shop for the Kids at Beaumont Hospital.

Send in your donation this week and it will be delivered to Beaumont Hospital along with the cards and gingerbread that the student will be making at their Holiday party on Friday!
Please deliver all UNWRAPPED donations to the classroom there will be a bin in Ms. Parkin's room  Please see the “Wish List” provided by Beaumont, you can go off the wish list but please abide by the "What to avoid" list (see the attachment sent in Mrs. Jarvis' Sunday email.)

The rescheduled Lansing trip is Friday, March 1, 2019. The same chaperones have emailed to confirm that they can attend on this date -Thank you!
Parkin/Wallington buses depart BCS at 8:30am and return at approximately 3:00PM.

The Battle of The Books 2018 is underway!  All 6 books are available to check out in the Media Center, and public libraries around the district.

Parents - Please initial at the bottom of your child's planner each night to show that they
have done their daily required reading. You do not need to write the number of minutes or book title in the planner.  

Word Study: Complete 6 activities on Spellingcity.com and return the signed spelling letter due Monday January 7th - (Signed letter and Spellingcity.com activities) Access www.spellingcity.com (from this blog) Login. 
  • Your child will know their spelling sort: WW-Sort 23, WW - Sort 36, SA-Sort 3, SA-Sort 19, DR-Sort 3 (they have written their sort on the top of their spelling letter.) 
  • Please read the letter and follow the directions. Locate your sort on spellingcity.com by clicking the red drop-down arrow for your spelling sort.  Play the games under the tabs to help you learn the spelling patterns for these words. You can check which word study activities you have completed by clicking on ‘My Records’ after you log in.
Remember – DO NOT click theTestMe options on spellingcity.org. Save that button for the day of your test. (You can do the Spelling and Vocabulary Practice Tests though.)

Compass Learning:
Please spend 20 mins each week (any day you choose) in Compass Learning, which is linked under several headings: Math, Langauge Arts or Frequently Visited Sites

Writing: Tonight - Some students need to finish working on writing their description paragraph for their informational book. They should have 3 papers with them to do this.
Remember to: Use 1 heading from the Box and Bullet page, 
Brainstorm that heading on the Weaving in Details Web page 
Then, on the Partner Sentences page write 2 sentences about each word on the Weaving Web (You need to write about at least 2 words)
Finally, copy those sentences onto your Drafting With Description paper. Add a statement to begin and conclude the paragraph

Due Wednesday - Some students need to 'google search' some dates for their timeline for their informational writing. They should copy the dates they need onto their Timeline page.

Xtramath practice 3 times per week (any day you choose) Complete a full work session, which lasts about 5-10 mins (until Mr. C says you are done!)

Thinkcentral.com testing site - You can show your Unit 1 and 2 Post-test and Unit 3 Pre-test scores to your parents by going to Thinkcentral.com. You will not be able to view the test questions on the pre-test, as this is for my information (not for grading) only your score is visible to youPost Tests questions are visible.
