Reading
READING TO WAIKIKI UPDATE – Our class has currently read a total of 1,700 miles
Can we read enough miles to reach tropical beaches of Waikiki, which is 4,500 miles away?
Don’t forget fill in your reading coupon, cut it out and return it for the count day – January 31st!

3rd: (100 weekly minutes of reading = 50 Frequent flyer miles)
4th: (150 weekly reading minutes = 50 Frequent flyer miles)
Please ask your parent to initial at the bottom of today’s entry so we know that you are completing your nightly required reading.

Take the online timed tests Multiplication #3 and Division #1 due TODAY Friday Jan 28th
PRACTICE your facts BEFORE you take any timed tests online!

How to take the online math tests:
Check www.thatquiz.org on my blog (see below) or, check the link that has been sent to you via your school email. Or, go to Frequently Visited Places. Click on thatquiz.org (for 3rd grade math students)
Click on your name and use your school password to log in and take the assigned tests.

3rd Grade End of year fact expectations:
Students should have quick mental recall of the following number of facts by the end of the year: 30 addition/30 subtraction facts in 2 mins and 50 division/50 multiplication facts in 3 mins

4th Grade End of year fact expectations:
Students should have quick mental recall of the following number of facts by the end of the year: 50 addition/50 subtraction facts in 2 mins and 100 division/ multiplication facts in 5 mins

4th Math: S.L.7. 3 and all the J. pages for that lesson. Angles project was due today.

Science: Check your group wiki page postings

Language Arts: Paragraph practice; “Bugs and Insects” due Wednesday February 9th
Biography book to be read by January 28th Have a parent sign your yellow letter. Complete the biography note paper – Due today January 28th

Social Studies: None

Please make sure you update your academic and personal goals on Moodle. Type the date of your posting and explain what progress you have made so far.

Spelling: List #4 due February 7th
Progress Check: Read the lists and choose a list to challenge yourself (You might want to choose the list with words that you think you will use in your writing)
Have a parent sign your paper. Play 3 or more spelling games on spellingcity AND complete the Moodle definitions quiz. Print it and attach it to your spelling list paper. Due Feb. 7th

Dates to remember
Parkin’s class has P.E. (Wednesday and Friday – 1:35pm -2:20pm)

The Valentines party is Monday February 14th. This is a low key event in the classroom. Parents are always welcome to attend if they wish. The students will decorate a collection bag, swap their valentines and enjoy a cookie with water. Thank you in advance to our parent volunteers who signed up to supply the cookie/treats,  the paper products and water for the day.
