Subjects taught today:
Language Arts: Writer’s notebook – Hot topics to write about
Math: (3rd) Lesson 1.8 (4th) Journal work
Science: Into to the water cycle.
Please continue to collect and bring in 2 ltr. clear soda bottles. We have enough for the Land and Water science unit. However, we will need lots more (approx. 30 bottles) for the ecosystems unit, which is taught later on in the year. Wash out the bottle. Remove the label. Keep the cap on.
Social Studies: None
Technology: Portfolio pages created on the class Wiki

Language Arts: All About Me poster. Due tomorrow, Tuesday Sept 20th Please check your spelling and add details where necessary. You may print and stick on interesting pictures to support your writing. These posters will hang in the classroom all year and help us with getting to know each other!

Math
3rd – H.Link 1.8 Please keep your Home Link book inside your binder!
If you didn't do this...Try to “feel” the weight of an item weighing 1 lb (it could be while you are grocery shopping, or you might look for an item in your pantry) Decide whether you think it is light or heavy.

3rd grade Math Online tests:
There a 3 quizzes to complete using thatquiz.org. The tests are: Time #1, Money #1 and Place Value #1. They are due Friday Sept. 23rd These tests are not timed.

How to take the online math tests:
Scroll down to Frequently Visited Places. (see right hand side of blog) Click on thatquiz.org for 3rd grade math students. Click on your name and use your school password to log in and take the assigned tests.
Or, log into your school email and click on the emails (with a link) that have been sent to you.

3rd Grade End of Year fact expectations:
Students should have quick mental recall of the following number of facts by the end of the year: 30 addition/30 subtraction facts in 2 mins and 50 division/50 multiplication facts in 3 mins

4th Grade End of Year fact expectations:
Students should have quick mental recall of the following number of facts by the end of the year: 50 addition/50 subtraction facts in 2 mins and 100 division/ multiplication facts in 5 mins

4th Math: No S.L. Study addition and Subtraction facts

Science: Continue to collect and bring in 2 ltr soda bottles!
