Our first day went smoothly! Everyone seemed very comfortable, easygoing, and happy to be here. However, it is normal for kids to feel new and a little uncertain. This first week we will be getting comfortable with our classroom, our schedule, and our classmates. After a week or two, all the kids really do feel like seasoned pros! Today the buddies at the tables were full of energy and conversation, so the kids are off to a great start becoming learning buddies.
We had a busy day today and did not follow our normal schedule. Tomorrow will be a normal day! The morning began with a wordsearch of all the kids’ names in our class. The kids heard about some of our classroom procedures and began making friends and learning about their homeroom buddies. Then they went to a town hall meeting with Mrs. Chinn and Mr. Bishop. The had 2 co-curricular classes today; Eng. Tech with Mr. P. and Engage with Mr. Whitmer. After lunch, we read a couple of short books about a 'First Day' and got some important handouts. The kids then went to 'bus families', so that they could familiarize themselves with the people who are on their bus. Finally, it was time for choice hour!!
Thank you for sharing your children with me. It is such a pleasure to work with them!
I'm looking forward to tomorrow!
