The students will enjoy some Halloween fun tomorrow!
They will get changed into their costumes at 1:30pm.
At 1:45pm each 3 / 4 class will take part in a parade around the school (twice, down the main hallway) Classroom Halloween parties will begin at approx. 2:00pm.
Thank you so much to our homeroom parent volunteers for organizing this event!
The party will end at approx. 3:00pm.

Conferences Thursday Nov. 15 and Monday Nov. 19th
The sign-up sheet for fall conferences is now posted outside the classroom door. Please drop by to sign up for a timeslot. Or, feel free to email me and I can sign up for you!

Lansing Fieldtrip
All permission slips have been return. Great job everyone!
Please note: There was an error on the top part of the permission slip that went home. The date for Parkin/Wallington to Lansing is THURSDAY NOVEMBER 29th. Mrs. Rifkin has this information correct on her sign-up sheet. My apologies for the confusion!
The chaperones are Mrs. Chisholm, Ms. Moran, Mrs. Rifkin, Mrs. Roskiewicz, Mr. Beard, Mr. Martin, Mrs. Cook and Mrs. Liddell. If you have a conflict in your schedule please let Mrs. Rifkin know so that she can notify the alternate volunteers. Thanks so much!

P.E is on Mondays (12:15) and Fridays (8:35am) Remember to wear Gym shoes!

Language Arts:
Read at least 20 minutes (3rd graders) or 30 minutes (4th graders) after school each day. Raz-Kids reading can be used for this time. Raz-Kids reading teacher username is lparkina

Scholastic book orders submitted. They should arrive at school by Friday or Monday next week.

BCS Battle of the Books was launched today! Battle Intro, information about upcoming book events and Parent Permission Slip can be found by clicking on the link. Permission slips should be signed by parent and returned ASAP

3rd Grade Math: H.L 3.2 and 3.2 J. pages
Thatquiz - Timed Multiplication (6s) due Wed 10/31
Electronic Math
-To get to thatquiz.org click on the link under the Math link (right hand side of blog)
-Click on your name
-Type in your school password (no username needed)
-Position one hand over the numbers on your keyboard and the other hand to click Enter or Submit with the mouse.
You can set up your own practice quizzes on thatquiz.org. You do not log in to set up practice quizzes. Just click the area you would like to study. Click on the no. of question, the level, the timing settings you want to test, and click create
IXL - 10 mins in 3rd grade section (Focus on addition/subtraction sections) by Sunday. If these sections are complete (to Mastery level) 10 mins free choice in any section

4th Grade Math: S.L 3.8 and 3.9 (Due Wednesday) J.page 68-69 and 70-71

Scholastic Book Club ordering. It’s so easy! Click on the link in the Lang. Arts section (right hand side) Set up your own parent username and password and type in the following code for Parkin’s class: GKQKW
There are various magazines available to order from.
The due date for the next set of orders is 10/29

Important Reminders:
• School starts at 8:20am. Students should be in their homeroom seat by this time.
• Please bring 3 sharp pencils to class every day.
• Bring a water bottle and two healthy snacks every day.
• Bring a chapter book every day.

Did you know…YOU can submit photographs for the yearbook!?  Go to www.replayit.com and register for free with your own unique user id and password.  Choose Birmingham Covington School and upload your photographs!  It's that easy!  There is even a free iPhone app that sends photos from your iPhone!  The Yearbook team would greatly appreciate any pictures you and your parents think are appropriate to include in the yearbook!
