Note to 4th grade parents: Mr. Wallington will provide math information for me to pass on to parents during our conference time.
Subjects taught today:
Language Arts –Book shopping
Math – Perimeter
Co curricular class - Swimming
Social Studies- State Report Wiki project intro 

Report cards go home today. Please have your parent sign the front of the envelope and return it to school.

Here is what we have for you today:
Language Arts:
Read at least 20 minutes (3rd graders) or 30 minutes (4th graders) after school each day. Raz-Kids reading can be used for this time. Raz-Kids reading teacher username is lparkina

Spelling: Please check your list the due date for homework and test is Nov 26th

3rd Grade Math:
H.L 3.5 
Fact practice – 5 mins each night. Focused fact set are the 7x tables
Thatquiz – 7 x tables due Friday (a 2 day extension)
IXL - 15 mins in 3rd grade section (Focus on multiplication section) by Sunday. If these sections are complete (to Mastery level) 10 mins free choice in any section

Go to Quizstar and review your Unit 2 post-test math assessment online
1. Login using your user name and password
2. Review post-test unit 2

Electronic Math
-To get to thatquiz.org click on the link under the Math link (right hand side of blog)
-Click on your name
-Type in your school password (no username needed)
-Position one hand over the numbers on your keyboard and the other hand to click Enter or Submit with the mouse.
You can set up your own practice quizzes on thatquiz.org. You do not log in to set up practice quizzes. Just click the area you would like to study. Click on the no. of question, the level, the timing settings you want to test, and click create

4th Grade Math:

Social Studies: Please log in to Moodle to show your parent your results. Log in to Moodle (linked on my blog) Click on Parkin, Social studies, click on 1 of the tests, then click quizzes (top left corner) All the test results show up in a table. Click on the number grade to review the quiz that you took.

Engage: (Optional) Create/Update your Portfolio page. Don’t forget to log in before you edit your page.
Optional – Finish story telling script

Spanish: Please click on your teacher’s Wiki page linked under Frequently Visited Sites (right hand side column)

Important Dates: Lansing Fieldtrip
Please note: There was an error on the top part of the permission slip that went home. The date for Parkin/Wallington to Lansing is THURSDAY NOVEMBER 29th. Mrs. Rifkin has this information correct on her sign-up sheet. My apologies for the confusion!
The chaperones are Mrs. Chisholm, Ms. Moran, Mrs. Rifkin, Mrs. Roskiewicz, Mr. Beard, Mr. Martin, Mrs. Glime and Mrs. Liddell. If you have a conflict in your schedule please let Mrs. Rifkin know so that she can notify the alternate volunteers. Thanks so much!

Scholastic Book Club ordering. It’s so easy! Click on the link in the Lang. Arts section (right hand side) Set up your own parent username and password and type in the following code for Parkin’s class: GKQKW
There are various magazines available to order from. The next orders will be submitted November 20th and should arrive by Nov 27th

Important Reminders:
• School starts at 8:20am. Students should be in their homeroom seat by this time.
• Please bring 3 sharp pencils to class every day.
• Bring a water bottle and two healthy snacks every day.
• Bring a chapter book every day.

Did you know…YOU can submit photographs for the yearbook!?  Go to www.replayit.com and register for free with your own unique user id and password.  Choose Birmingham Covington School and upload your photographs!  It's that easy!  There is even a free iPhone app that sends photos from your iPhone!  The Yearbook team would greatly appreciate any pictures you and your parents think are appropriate to include in the yearbook!
