It was great to meet our new incoming 3rd graders today at Move Up! The students had fun exploring BCS on a scavenger hunt with their buddies and the "new fourth graders" did a great job acting as good role models and friends. Current 4th graders enjoyed meeting their 5th grade teachers and got to see who is in their homeroom in the fall.

Strategy cards are to keep at home. Tear out pages 51A – 51Z from the volume 1 math journal. Cut them out and sort them into 3 piles (Very quick response/not as quick/need to learn) Clip them together (or store in small baggies) Then, begin to practice quick recall from the 2nd pile – Your goal is to move this pile to the first (V. quick response)
There are many ways to master your times tables. You could use flashcards, chanting, and math game sites/apps. The most important thing is that you practice REGULARLY. Set up a routine and stick to it, and soon you'll know all those facts fluently!

FOOD ALLERGY AWARENESS
Food allergy is a growing public health issue that impacts almost every school across the United States. Nearly 6 million children in the U.S. – which equates to 1 in 13, or roughly 2 in every classroom – have a food allergy. Studies indicate that 16-18% of school-age children who have food allergies have had a reaction in school. In addition, in approximately 25% of the reactions that occur at school, the student had not yet been diagnosed with food allergy. Help your child BE A PAL (protect a life) TO A FRIEND WITH A FOOD ALLERGY! Click here for details or at the following link: http://www.foodallergy.org/document.doc?id=118
