Student devices Update: Students are asked not to take their school Chromebooks home. They will remain in class and inside the charging cart for use in school. However, if a student does not have a device to use at home and needs their school Chromebook to complete iReady or Xtramath practice, they may take it home and return it to school the next day. Thank you for signing and turning in all the Acceptable Use Policy Agreements.

Homework:

Reading
3rd graders - Read 20 mins (minimum) each night
4th graders - Read 30 mins (minimum) each night
(Bring in a chapter book to read in class. 

Language Arts
Talk About Homework - (This doesn't need to be written down. Just tell a parent about the topic. You can use your planner notes to help you)
- Summarize the Story - The Wild Robot
Previous Talk About Topics:
- What figurative language sentence did you write from the Novel The Wild Robot?
- What simile did you find in the Wild Robot text?
Summarize the story - Wild Robot (Strategy - S/W/B/S/T) Characters: Roz, Brightbill, Chitchat, Nettle and Thorn, Loudwing)
Explain what you have written about in your Turtle research - Informational writing
-Explain what you have written about in your Personal narrative (Hook, Dialogue, Ending)
- What positive thing happened because of a mistake made by one of the characters in the novel, Because of Winn Dixie?
- What was your prediction for the novel, Because of Winn Dixie. (You looked at the cover and we read the 1st chapter)

Spelling
List #14 Test is Monday 1/6/25
The word lists are written in your child's planner each week. The word lists are also available to study using Powerspelling (your child knows their login) This is an optional way to study the words if your child has their own device at home.
To see how your child is doing on all spelling tests. Have them log in to PowerSpelling.com and click 'Results'

Math
3rd Graders: 
Complete your Unit 3 Cool Downs Packet over the break
Optional - Thatquiz.org assignments (on a home computer click the link under Math heading - see righthand side of this blog. Or, use the QR code (each student has a paper copy of their code) to access your account from your phone.
Xtramath 3 times per week Complete 1 session (about 5-7 mins -Click "continue" until Mr. C says, "You're done!")
iReady 30 mins minimum per week. Make sure you are completing My Path Math lessons.

Login to ClassLink - click the iReady App - Click Math My Path
To access Xtramath:
Account setup directions were sent home on the XtraMath flyer.
- Type XtraMath into your browser (bookmark this site)
- Login with your 4-digit PIN (the last four numbers on your account number)
- Complete 1 session (about 5-7 mins - Click "continue" until Mr. C says, "You're done!"
4th Graders - Packet due  Friday - 12/20

Social Studies
Talk About homework 
- Name 3-5 states in the Southeast

Science
Talk About Homework
Explain your observations of the mixture made in the lab (san/water, salt/water, bicarbonate of Soda/water - Baking soda/vinegar - carbon dioxide, solution, dissolve, suspend)
Previous Talk About Topics:
Explain how balanced and unbalanced forces work (baseball flying through the air, Ball resting on a table) What forces are acting on the ball?
Explain your favorite magnetic experiment that you did today in the science lab?
