I was out of the classroom yesterday morning 10/24 for professional development with the 3rd grade math team and Mr. Bishop. I will also be out of the classroom on Friday 10/26 morning to attend a meeting.

Lansing Fieldtrip
Chaperones, there was an error on the top part of the permission slip that went home. The date for Parkin/Wallington to Lansing is THURSDAY NOVEMBER 29th. Mrs. Rifkin has this information correct on her sign up sheet. My apologies for the confusion!
The chaperones are Mrs. Chisholm, Ms. Moran, Mrs. Rifkin, Mrs. Roskiewicz, Mr. Beard, Mr. Martin, Mrs. Cook and Mrs. Liddell. If you have a conflict in your schedule please let Mrs. Rifkin know so that she can notify the alternate volunteers. Thanks so much!

Language Arts – Because of Winn Dixie Chapter/character analysis
Math – Skill Check worksheets
Co curricular class: Spanish
Social Studies – The Northeast Region

Here is what we have for you today:
Language Arts: Read at least 20 minutes (3rd graders) or 30 minutes (4th graders) after school each day. Raz-Kids reading can be used for this time. Raz-Kids reading Teacher username is lparkina

Look for the Battle of the Books link in the language Arts Link section (right hand side)BCS Battle of the Books launch is in the Media Center for all 4th and 5th graders at 8:30-9:10 on Monday, October 29th Battle Intro and Parent Permission Slip should be signed by parent and returned by Battle Launch day-Mon, Oct. 29th

3rd Grade Math:  No H.L or J. page. Finish your review. Unit 2 Post test is Friday 10/26

-To get to thatquiz.org click on the link under the Math link (right hand side of blog)
-Click on your name
-Type in your school password (no username needed)
-Position one hand over the numbers on your keyboard and the other hand to click Enter or Submit with the mouse.
You can set up your own practice quizzes on thatquiz.org. You do not log in to set up practice quizzes. Just click the area you would like to study. Click on the no. of question, the level, the timing settings you want to test, and click create
·         IXL - 10 mins in 3rd grade section (Focus on addition/subtraction sections) by Sunday. If these sections are complete (to Mastery level) 20 mins free choice in any section

Scholastic Book Club ordering. It’s so easy! Click on the link in the Lang. Arts section (right hand side) Set up your own parent username and password and type in the following code for Parkin’s class: GKQKW
There are various magazines available to order from.
The due date for the next set of orders is 10/29
Important Reminders:
• School starts at 8:20am. Students should be in their homeroom seat by this time.
• Please bring 3 sharp pencils to class every day.
• Bring a water bottle and two healthy snacks every day.
• Bring a chapter book every day.
